Travel through taste with the HelloFresh team!
October 15, 2021It’s been a LONG time since we’ve travelled abroad but it doesn’t stop us from dreaming. Whether it’s Moroccan beaches or Hong Kong night markets you’ve been fantasising about, at HelloFresh our creative Culinary team have been hard at work so you can enjoy a well-earned vacation… via your tastebuds!
Our NEW Taste Tours recipes have been designed so you can take your dinner to new destinations with exotic flavours and exciting twists. Each meal comes with a delicious main and either a side or starter to complete the experience.
We asked some of our Recipe Development team to tell us a little bit about the inspiration behind the new recipes and boy did they deliver! So fasten your seatbelt, put your seat in the upright position and get ready to tick off some bucket list cuisines…
First stop is a beachside restaurant in Malaga, Spain with our Tapas-Style Garlic Prawns & Antipasti.
Sophie: The combination of garlicky prawns, charred capsicum and green olives (plus sticky fingers) in tiny bowls will take me, everytime, to the modest plastic chair restaurants, directly on the beach in Malaga. Serving tapas’-finest from sundown to 12am. Pass the tinto de verano.
Next, we’re taking a trip to Singapore to enjoy a vibrant night market treat, our Hainanese-Style Chicken Rice with Greens & Ginger-Spring Onion Sauce.
Flinders: A dipper’s dream, Hainanese chicken knows how to condiment. Whilst I’m still awaiting a chance to dip Wencheng chicken itself (specifically bred and fed for this dish) into these zingy sauces, we’ve created a HelloFresh version. Classically poached, we’ve roasted for ease, but kept the Chinese roots with plenty of zesty ingredients, from ginger to lemongrass and chilli.
Finally, get transported to the sands of Kailua Bay in Hawaii to enjoy a sun-kissed treat, our Ponzu Salmon Poke Bowl with Sesame Rice & Snow Pea Slaw.
Sophie: What I can imagine would be best eaten fresh off the back of a dip in Hawaiian waters, this sea-side meal symbolises sun and surfboard if only I could execute the latter. Whilst I would like to pair it with Hawaii’s best waves, the pickled ginger and zesty ponzu works as a sun-kissed treat.
