Why staying in is the new going out

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner – how are you celebrating the night? Like most, you’ll probably have to battle many other couples for a table at a fancy restaurant.

What if we told you that you can enjoy a restaurant-quality meal from the comfort of your own home? That’s right – goodbye reservations, finding a car park, crowded restaurants, bill shock and say ‘hello’ to our Valentine’s Day Gourmet special: Roasted Premium Beef Fillet & Bearnaise Sauce with Hazelnut Brownies.

If that’s not enough to convince you that staying in can be just as nice (or even nicer) as a date night on the town, here’s four more reasons!

Why wring hands over the price of avocado toast and trying to enter the property market when you can enjoy a date night in at home? There are plenty of reasons to eschew restaurants for home comforts.

    1. You’ll Save Money

An obvious point but an important one to make. Even if you head out and buy a whole bunch of expensive, exotic ingredients, chances are the bill will be under what you’d rack up at a restaurant. That’s before you throw in the cost of the Uber, and wine or champagne. It all starts to add up. Plus, in the comfort of your own home, there’s no need to splurge on a new outfit or shoes. At this point, some could argue that you’re making money!

    2. You’ll Learn Something

Not only is whipping up a meal at home cheaper, but it actually helps you master valuable life skills.Plus, cooking a dish from scratch is one sure way to impress your partner. . Our easy-to-follow recipes will help you create a restaurant quality meal without too much effort. Once you’ve got even a simple recipe under your belt, you can experiment with flavour combinations and in-season produce to create loads of new dishes. Why not think of cooking a meal at home as a money-saving activity and an investment in yourself? It’s hard to argue against staying in when you put it like that.

    3. It Shows People You Care

The old adage about the way to the heart being through the stomach gets repeated for a reason. While there are lots of nice gifts and gestures you can offer those you love, the fact remains that we all need to eat nutritious food every day. Taking time out of your day to nourish someone else is just about one of the nicest things you can do, and we think it beats a reservation at a fancy elite restaurant any day of the week.

    4. You Can Stay in Your Trackies!

Okay, maybe not if it’s your first date! But for other couples, this is by far the best reason to stay in. No need for any table manners (well maybe some), no worrying about what you’re wearing, no need to keep your voice down while you tell your killer hilarious anecdote. Staying in the comfort of your own home spells comfy trackies, good company and unrestrained enjoyment. And if that isn’t what sharing a good meal is about, we don’t know what is.
