We’ve shown you how to turn your eggshells into food for your food, but this is next level. Egg shells aren’t just a cute compartment for your seedlings (although, look at them, they obvs are), they also serve an important purpose in nurturing your little herb seedlings. Calcium and other minerals present in the shells will enrich your soil and allow your seedlings to thrive. The shells are also perfect compost, so when your herbs are well developed enough the shells can be broken and potted in with the herbs to a larger pot.

This is a perfect project for kids still developing their green thumbs, but it’s also a great way to see something you’ve cultivated literally come to life. Plants really do make you happier, and plants you can eat? Now that’s just the icing on the cake.

These shell seedlings won’t drain water, so take care not to over moisten the soil – a little water twice a week should suffice!
