You Scream! I Scream! We All Scream For Banana Nice Cream!
January 25, 2017You know the only thing better than ice cream? Yeah, that’s right: banana nice cream.
What makes it so nice? Well, all of the lovely ingredients of course! With each of these recipes containing naught but bananas and a little nut milk or butter, this is a high protein, no added sugar healthy treat that’s perfect for anything from a lazy brunch to a dinner party dessert.
Our hot tip for this cool treat is so pre-peel and slice bananas into thick rounds, and store in a tupperware container in the freezer. That way, you can whip out one of these delicious recipes in minutes whenever you fancy it!
You’re Berry Nice Cream
Ingredients
- 2 frozen bananas, cut into small discs
- 4 tbsp almond milk
- 3 tablespoons frozen berries
Toppings
- 1 tbsp blueberries and 1 tbsp raspberries (fresh or slightly defrosted if using frozen)
- 1/2 sliced banana
- Shredded coconut flakes
- Mint leaves, picked
Method
In a blender (you’ll need a pretty heavy duty one to get a nice smooth texture), combine all ingredients until thick and smooth. Top with colourful delights and tuck in!
Matcha Made in Heaven Nice Cream
We love the combination of Japanese flavours here, sesame from tahini and matcha are classic dessert friends.
Ingredients
- 2 frozen bananas, cut into small discs
- 4 tbsp tahini
- 1 teaspoon Matcha powder
Toppings
- 1 tablespoon pomegranate kernels
- 1 tbsp fresh blueberries
- 1 tbsp of cocoa nibs, crushed
- 1/2 sliced banana
- Edible flowers
Method
Blend bananas and matcha powder until well combined, then pulse through tahini. Top and enjoy!
Choco-late to the Party Nice Cream
So named because even extreme tardiness will be forgiven once you whip this treat out.
Ingredients
- 2 frozen bananas, cut into small discs
- 4 tbsp hazelnut butter, macadamia butter or peanut butter (pick your favourite!)
- 1 tablespoon good quality cocoa powder
Toppings
- 1 tbsp crushed hazelnuts
- 1 tbsp of cocoa beans
- 1/2 sliced banana
- Edible flowers
Method
Combine bananas and cocoa powder in a blender. Add nut butter and serve with your favourite toppings.
