Versatility is a great feature for any meal. From hearty brunches to dinner on the go, baked potatoes merge the boundaries between brunch, lunch and dinner.

How to microwave jacket potatoes

The best way to make baked potato is to keep it crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

  1. Pierce the skin of your potatoes with a fork all around the outside to create passages for the steam to escape.
  2. In a microwaveable dish, place your potatoes and cover them with a piece of kitchen paper.
  3. Microwave for four minutes before you carefully take them out and turn them over.
  4. Place the covered potatoes back into the microwave and cook for another four minutes.
  5. Continue the process until cooked soft with wrinkled skin.

To crispen up the skins, pop your microwaved baked potato into a preheated oven at 220 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove the potato, cut it open and serve with your choice of topping.
