Miso steak with wasabi mash

Ingredients for two people
20 g | miso paste |
400 g | rump steak |
400 g | potatoes, peeled & chopped |
5 g | wasabi |
50 ml | milk |
2 tbs | butter |
80 g | baby spinach |
3 tbs | olive oil |

For the steak marinade
Place the miso paste in a small bowl and add the steaks. Coat the steak with the paste and leave aside.
For the mash
Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil and then add the potatoes. Cook for 12 minutes or until cooked through and then strain, return them back to the pot.
Add the wasabi paste, be sparing because it’s very spicy! If you don’t like too much spice just put a dash in so you get the flavour. Add the milk, butter, and give a good grind of salt and pepper, mash with a potato masher until you reach the desired consistency. Add the baby spinach to the mash and stir through.
For the steak
Heat the olive oil in a pan over high heat. Add the miso rump steaks and then cook for 2-3 minutes on either side, cooking time will depend on your cooking preference and on the thickness of your steak.
To serve
Serve the miso steaks with a side of the wasabi mash and enjoy!
