    Health benefits of Turmeric + healthy turmeric mango juice

    Turmeric has been used in curries, as a dyeing agent and in folk medicine for centuries. It’s potent fragrant flavour and vibrant colour conjure up summer days, streaming sunlight and earthy heat.

    Although you might not think it from it’s mustard-like properties, turmeric makes a perfect centrepiece in a juice or a healthy turmeric mango smoothie. Not only is it’s ginger flavour a spicy addition to a sweet drink, it also acts as an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. Turmeric therefore promotes circulation, and may even ease aching joints and arthritis. All of this is due to a compound present in turmeric called curcumin. It’s responsible for the root’s bright hue and may ward off heart attacks, delay diabetes soothe the symptoms of osteoarthritis. What a hard working guy!

    This healthy turmeric and mango smoothie is delightfully creamy and thick, and blended with ice, it’s perfect for the upcoming heat wave in Australia! We highly recommend it as a pick me up in the morning to stay healthy and hydrated.

    Mangoes are just starting to come into season, and you can definitely snaffle a good deal at your local grocer (or allow us to help out). We like to buy up a few in bulk, cut the cheeks off and peel them, and then store in a zip-lock bag in the freezer for easy creamy mango smoothies whenever you want.     Health benefits of Turmeric + healthy turmeric mango smoothie

    Ingredients

    • juice from 1 orange
    • 1 ripe banana
    • 2 peaches, stones removed
    • half a mango
    • 1 tbps finely grated fresh ginger
    • 1 heaped tbps wheat germ
    • half a tsp of turmeric
    • 1 cup almond milk
    • 1 heaped tbsp natural yoghurt
    • 2 tbsp honey
    • handful of ice cubes

    Instructions:

    1. Plonk all the ingredients into a blender & whiz until everything is combined to your desired consistency. Serve in a chilled glass, sit outside in the sunshine to receive your Vitamin D & enjoy!
