Forget to get a gift for Valentine’s Day? Are you now in a tailspin about how to prove that you do in fact love your significant other? (Of course you do, but how to prove it?) Are you just really into chocolate cake? Well, this easy chocolate cake recipe is the answer to all your prayers. It’s super impressive but incredibly simple. If you don’t normally turn your hand to cooking, this is a great entry level recipe to try.

2 Ingredient, Easy Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients
- 6 eggs
- 300g chocolate (we used 200g milk and 100g dark chocolate, but you can use whatever you’d like)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 170°C.
- In a double boiler (that’s a fancy word for a glass bowl placed over a saucepan of boiling water, making sure the level of water does not touch the bottom of the bowl), melt the chocolate while stirring. Remove from the heat and set aside.
- Separate the eggs and set aside the whites in the fridge until you’re ready to use them.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted chocolate and egg yolks.
- Whisk the egg whites with a very clean electric beater until hard peaks form. This should take around 3 -4 minutes with an electric beater, and you’ll know the whites are ready when they can hold a shape like a peak when you pull up your whisk.
- Add one-third of the whisked egg whites to your chocolate mixture and combine well (don’t worry about knocking out any air at this stage). Then, add the remaining two-thirds of the egg white and gently fold through the mixture, trying to incorporate as much air as you can.
- Pour the batter into a lined cake tin and gently drop in on the counter to allow the air bubbles to rise to the surface.
- Bake in the oven for 30 minutes, then remove and allow to cool completely.
- Serve as is, or with a little orange simple syrup and a dollop of cream if you like!
To make an orange simple syrup, juice one orange and stir over low heat with two tablespoons of sugar until all the sugar granules have dissolved and the mixture has thickened slightly. It’s totally optional, but we like to add a little moisture to this very fluffy light cake.

I made this today using Lindt’s EXCELLENCE Arabica INTENSE coffee & dark chocolate with Lindt’s 70% dark chocolate….lowered the temperature to 160C due to my new technology oven and would never have previously believed a cake this yummy could be made with 2 ingredients.
